Laser marking

LM-1 laser marker Step 1 of 6

The laser marker gives every board its identity. Everything recorded later on the line hangs on this one code, so the station checks that it is unique and readable before the board moves on.

Where the data comes from

Marking head
Writes the code; the program and the mark time come from here.
The code on the board
Read back and graded before the board leaves the station.
Operator screen
Shows the work order and the last serial, so a restart never reuses a code.

Checks at this station

Rules the station applies before a board moves on. Which ones run on your line is agreed with production and quality.

No duplicate serials
A code that already exists in the record is refused before it is marked.
Readable before it leaves
The mark is read back and graded; a code below the agreed grade stops the board here.
The right program
The marking program must match the product of the running work order.

In the manufacturing record

This is the line the station adds to the record of the board, the same record that follows it through the whole line.
